Re: [Alopecia Areata Support Group] Derm called me back with my info

Hi

I lost my hair in patches when I was about 19 and over the next
couple of years I had patches that came and went and then it all
grew back and I had no problems until I was 30. This was when I
stopped breastfeeding my second child (don't know if this was a
trigger).

When it first started to fall out my hairline at the back just
started going and gradually moved up and up and up until I had
nothing. Then my eyebrows and eyelashes starting going and I now
only have maybe 10 eyelashes on one eye. Now I have also lost most
of the hair on my arms and my legs are patchy too. My biggest gripe
is that I haven't lost my moustache like you and also the hair under
my arms. Anyway to answer your question I guess my hair loss was
gradual (this has taken a bit over two years, I am 32 now). In my
case it seems that once there are no hairs left somewhere to attack
(eg, my head) it moves on and attacks some other part of my body.

Everyones experience is different of course but this is how it has
happened for me. Even with me my first experience in my late teens
was very different from the experience I am going through now.

crazy!!!! I have had a recent bronchitis... noticed some tiny
white hairs starting to grow... then skin pain and they are gone the
next day. : (

it feel better, but if I could lift off my skin and rub the other
side of it I would feel better." HAHAHA

form AA to AU.... was it gradual? I have been AA since Jan 06...
first sopt very small end of Dec- first oh my God spot in
January.... my head is almost- like probably 90% - gone... except my
eyebrows and eyelashes. I have noticed in the past few months that
these are thinning... and the moustache I used to once wax to
maintain my girliness is thin and has not been waxed but once this
year.... and it's almost like a "retarded" growth of the hair on
the rest of my body for the past 6 months or so... I know nothing
is "normal" but does it sound familiar to anyone?

and sorry boys if this is TMI. I also remmeber when on my first
onset of AA a year ago, I remember how unusually sore my breasts
were. I mean I kept taking pregnancy tests thinking I was
pregnant!!! They were sore consistantly for several months. Once
the pain was gone, my hair was growing! Also, I noticed that with
this new little spot, same thing again, my chest was very sore! The
pain is gone, and so is my shedding... WEIRD!! Just wanted to share
in that observation as well. Not that it will help anyone, but I am
SURE it was related as well!
