National 211 may also want to form
a relationship with CapTel in Milwaukee WI. They provide a low-cost to no cost
service for the hearing impaired.

Subject: [airsnetworker] Request for information/technology for
individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
2-1-1 Colleagues,
We are currently investigating how we
can better serve the deaf and/or hard of hearing at our call center. We
are considering utilizing a video relay service. However, our knowledge
of this service and how it works is limited.
Is anyone currently using a video relay
service? If so, how are you currently utilizing it in your center?
What are the positives/negatives? How did you decide which provider to go
with?
Any information would be greatly
appreciated, on video relay service or any other methods that 2-1-1s have
effectively found to service the deaf and/or hard of hearing. Thanks for
your help.
