RE: [airsnetworker] Language Lines/Interpreter Services

We have been using the Language Line service (through a city-wide contract – we are a city agency) since the beginning of this year.  We have been very pleased with the service.  It’s quick, easy for staff and very cost-effective. While using a telephone translation service does not substitute for having multi-lingual, culturally competent staff, it is a step in the right direction and enables our agency to provide needed services to our limited-English customers.

FYI – Language Line recently merged with the AIRS-contracted agency, Tele-Interpreters, and that has resulted in a decrease in the AIRS-contracted per minute rate.  See the AIRS link for more information.

Joyce,

One option is that AIRS has some preferred rates from Language Line/Teleinterpreters ... check out www.airs.org/Teleinterpreters for more info ...

Many thanks

I am interested in learning what Language Lines/ Interpreter Services you use for your call centers.  Also, if possible, please share any related service agreements.  Thank you.
