hi Deanna,
Emily still has that problem after an extended episode, her regular routine
is once a day in the AM. if is notice she misses one day, I give her a
teaspoon of Flax seed oil, if she hasn't gone by the end of the day, I give
her a second teaspoon of oil, etc...It is really good for them, and it helps
soften things up when they stay in the track too long. I find the liquid
isn't bad tasting, it is kind of nutty flavored, Em can't swallow pills yet,
but it also comes in gel cap form. I buy it in the healthfood store in the
refrigerator section. Obu's oil formula is really great stuff, a little
more costly than straight flax oil, Spectrum is the most common brand I find
here. When Em was younger she would eat prunes, but as she got older she
started turning fruit away.
if it gets to the point where a few days have passed and "no production" I
have had to use a liquid glycerin and insert it anally with a dropper.
after about 10-20 minutes it softens the stool enough to pass without much
problems.
hope it helps,
Lee

Hi all: David has had total loss of his abilities on several occassions.
None seemed related to antibiotics, but always after a severe and prolonged
AHC episode or a severe seizure. It has taken him anywhere from 2 weeks to
2months to slowly regain all abilities. Some things never fully returned,
ie. attention span. Also he used to suffer from alot of constipation when
he was very young and after episodes. Lately it has been a continual
problem,a nd the usual things like high fiber, increase liquids, etc. are
not working. Has anyone else experienced this and what worked for your
child? Deanna
