Hi everyone,
This is Karen V, mom to Addie Rose, 3.5yrs.
Addie has had a very tough last 4 weeks. She came down with cold that worked
into bronchitis then onto a massive ear infection (1st one) and then onto
pneumonia (left lower lobe).
She was put on Zithromax 1st but developed ear infection while on it and then
moved on to pneumonia. She was then put on augmentin. Since the augmentin
or pneumonia (I don't know which is driving these symptoms we are seeing alot
of the following and it is going on the 4 th week of illness, missing school
and house bound activities. Please remember it appears Addie's main symptoms
requiring treatment are seizures....to date the AHC has seemed under good
control...
mouth quivering (is this choreathetosis?)
shakiness
off balance
walking on toes and bent in half
legs squeezed together as if she needs to pee but I think she is holding
herself up
hyperflexed/locked knees
she pulls at her hands and lower arms alot as if they feel strange or painful
seizures
sometimes big "deer eyes"where she looks scared but is not crying out
tremors/shaking all over but not seizing
tired all the time but agitated and often unable to sleep unless I drive her
in the car
bursts of energy but her body starts to shake if she even runs around the
house 2-3 laps
Has anyone gone through such a long recovery and instability period? The
neuros tried some med changes but I feel they onely made things worse. There
is not documented interaction whith her current meds and antibiotic. We
often need to give her motrin in morning b/c she feels warm but has no real
temp. We have also had to occasionally use .5mg oral valium to help through
these rough periods. She is on lamictal, flunarazine, keppra and COQ10
enzyme.
thanks for your help!
Karen and Addie Rose
