Subject: Human-buttons
This message is about Human beings, Democracy, UNHCR, Refugees, The Iraqis,
Islam, Kurds, Human rights, Respect, Money, Donations, Angelina Jolie,
Pavarotti, Giorgio Armani, Donors, Peace, History, Campaigns and about you if
you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here:
http://un77.topcities.com

Where you can read the rest of this message as web page.

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example:

The refugees allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are
supposed to be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food
items," they allege: http://allafrica.com/stories/200503140214.html

Here is another example: Burmese Refugees Withdraw Protest Against UNHCR
http://www.mizzima.com/archives/news-in-2005/news-in-april/12-April05-22.htm

"We make demonstration and fast because the UNHCR office in Cairo did nothing
for our problem..." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4440730.stm

Together we will build better world.

You could reach me fast via this form: http://www.unhcr.us/email_me.htm and if
you like to know more about me, you can google for my name 'osam altaee'.

Liliana,

you can visit the peruvian web-site of the "equipo para las terapias de arte',
which is is spanish. http://terapiasdearte.perucultural.org.pe/index.htm
They propose many many publications and articles about music-therapy and therapy
by other means to download. Perhaps you will find something belonging to your
subject.
I am sure that you can contact directly the members of the "equipo" as well.
Their activity in Lima is very interesting, they work a lot with
migration-populations or with people in the "pueblos jovenes", outside of Lima.
Further, they seem to have contacts (I know that in 1998, they had, but I don't
know if they still work together) with hospitals or other institutions in the
andean region where their activity is particularly adapted to the people of
these regions (where tradition and actuality are very close together).

I am currently in production of a music documentary that deals with
Music
Healing and Music Therapy. Because you have an interest in music I'd
like
for you to take the survey I have posted on my website
www.heartbeatofhealing.tv.

This documentary - HeartBeat of Healing - will be in production for
about one
year. During that time I will be posting progress reports on the
website.
This week we visited with Mickey Hart, former drummer for Grateful
Dead and
Thomas Dolby, (She Blinded Me with Science). These gentlemen talked
about
their experiences with music in a healing capacity.

I'm interested in your experiences with music and healing and would
love to
hear from you. If you have any questions you can reach me through the

Dear Fellow SoundHealers:

What an amazing year it has been since I immersed myself in this
incredible field of healing with sound and music. I am devoting my
full-time to spreading the word, and networking all over the world
with people interested in this powerful work. Our website has been a
huge success, and I continue to add new information every week.

Due to the many requests, I have now formed the Healing Music
Association. The Healing Music Association is an organization of
people who utilize sound and music in the healing arts. The purpose
of this association is to promote education, scientific study, and a
sense of community for people to share their experiences and
knowledge about sound and music in healing.

If you are interested and want to know more about this new
association, please follow this link to our webpage:
www.healingmusic.org/Healing_Music_Assoc..htm

I want to personally thank each and everyone one of you who is
faithfully doing this healing work with yourself, your friends and
loved ones, and throughout the world. I believe that we are
transforming the vibration of our world one tone at a time.

Blessings.
Om la la shanti,
Amrita

Okay, well, I didn't do a LOT of updates this time around, but I did fix a
couple of inaccuracies in data and I added a discussion area (the messages
don't get sent to you, you have to go and read them each day) and a page for
the IBC International (you have to look to find out what it is!). I also
did a couple of other things that I wrote about at the top of the portal
page. So go have a look and let me know what you think - there should be
more updates by the end of the summer; I'd like to have it mostly complete
(will it ever be complete?) by the time I start getting REALLY busy in
September. :)

Remember, the address is http://janna.kensai.com - go look and have fun!

Hi Mareta,

I'm afraid I know very little about undergraduate programs in music
therapy. I graduated from the master's program at NYU. When I did
my
internship, however, I met someone who was studying at Molloy in New
Jersey, and it sounded like they had a good solid program. You may
want to contact the American Music Therapy Association with your
question. If you don't have their contact information I'll be glad
to
give it to you.

I think an undergraduate program can give you good preparation, but
I'd also advise thinking of going for a master's down the road. I
think it will give you a more solid credential.

I don't know if I can help with all of your questions, but please
don't hesitate to ask. Maybe there are others on the list who will
know more about this?

Dear Mareta,
I received my master's degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, which has a great program, but I realize you're looking in a different area. Florida State University (in Talahassee) has a very strong program, as does Michigan State University (in East Lansing). Those, with the addition of KU (in Lawrence, KS) and my alma mater in Colorado, are the schools that I hear the most about as far as research, excellent curriculum, etc. As you said, UGA also has a great program, and so do some schools in Ohio. I think the one I've heard the most about there is Ohio U, in Athens, Ohio... University of Iowa is also right up there, but I know that's a little midwest.

You can check out www.musictherapy.org for more schools and information, if you haven't been there already. Also, I'd recommend reading Intro. to Music Therapy (Thaut, Davis, and Gfeller) and Music as Therapy (Deforia Lane). The first is a textbook but very helpful in giving a broad idea of what music therapy is about, the second is a more personal autobiography of a wonderful music therapist, with very moving and interesting case studies/examples. If you have any other questions I can help with, please feel free to email me directly also at tigger30@....

Dear Janna,

I was just surfing the web and I came across this group, and I wanted
to respond to your question. I am a Board Certified Music Therapist,
although I do not work with autism (my specialty is hospice). Still,
I have a few suggestions for you.

A couple of good books to read:

J. Alvin and A. Warwick: Music Therapy for the Autistic Child (Oxford
University Press)

Edith Boxill: Music Therapy for the Developmentally Disabled (Pro-Ed,
Austin, TX)

Also, in my view the primary experts on music therapy and autism are
the Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy in New York City,
(212)995-5151. I think they could be the best ones to consult with.

I have also published an article entitled "Music Therapy in the
Treatment of Social Isolation in Visually Impaired Children," which
appeared in the journal RE:view for Winter 1998. It mentions some
exercises with music that would be appropriate for autistic children,
and also contains more references you might find helpful.

Please forgive me if the ground I have covered is already familiar to
you. I hope this helps,

Charles Gourgey, Ph.D., MT-BC

Hello, everyone!

I'm about to create the Music Therapy section of my web site, and I would
appreciate your assistance in compiling a list of music therapy links.
Personal web sites would be great, as would reference sites etc. A web
search can only produce so much information; doubtless you all have more
resources! :)

I would also be interested to know what information you think should be
included in this section of my site. Please feel free to email me privately
at karalianne@....

Thank you!

-Janna

Hi, I'd like to post an invite over to the new music therapy list on
egroups. It's mainly for students, but of course professionals are
welcome
to come and share their experience. So long as everyone keeps in mind
that
the new list is meant to be a forum for the students to ask questions,
send
gripes, and even just skip out on talking about music therapy once in a
while, we'll do fine.

The list name is mtstudents.

See you there!
