Re: [Adults with Epilepsy] ~ Working ~

Hi Cheryl,

I am not sure where you are, but certainly in Canada, and I believe in
most countries, you do not have to put on your application or state in
your interview that you have epilepsy. What I normally do is tell my
direct supervisor after I have been hired, because I do think they
should know. But you are right, even though legally they should not
discriminate, if they know before you are hired how would you ever prove
that that is the reason you did not get the job?

i have been thinking about getting a new job because the place that i work at
isn't doing very well. They have had two layoffs in the past six months. There
will probably more to come too. Anyhow, i was wondering if i should or have to
put on my applications that i have epilepsy. I feel that if they see that they
will be less apt to hire you. What do you think? I want to work; i hate being
at home all day.

You have two options. 1) If you put it on your Application Form, and they decide NOT to hire you based on that, then you have a valid case of discrimination...
