I know what you mean... It took a LONG time for me to get approved as well... So long, that I forgot I had even signed up to be on the board!
I'm surprised if there is "drama" that needs to be modded anyway - on a braces board. Somehow that seems about as odd to me as needing modding for a board for those who wear corrective shoes. Yes - I realize that people are people everywhere and that disagreements come up. I also know that there are some weirdos out there who apparently have a fetish for women in braces (rolls eyes). But speaking as an adult woman with braces, I can say that I honestly can't think of anything *less* glamorous or likely to induce drama than the ounce or so of metal wire wrapped around my teeth, that makes all our family photos look as if I have miniature train tracks in place of a smile. (I was told that I couldn't have invisalign because they needed to use stronger, more traditional brackets, etc. in order to move my teeth - considering how badly crooked my teeth were...)
Anyway - I've been in braces now for almost three years. I fought tooth and nail to avoid extractions, but finally gave in. It *could* have been done without extractions, with oral surgery - and there as a lot of disagreement between various oral surgeons and orthodontists that looked at me... But in the end, I became more pragmatic after our daughter was born and I could not afford to be laid up in the hospital, having jaw surgery or stay overnight for the sleep study they wanted to do to see if I had sleep apnea (which would have made it more important to avoid extractions - since there was a concern that they would narrow my air ways). So I just have to hope that I don't regret taking the short cut and going with the extractions. It doesn't feel that short - in any case... considering how long I've been in braces and I'm likely to be in braces still for a year longer (sigh).
I'm glad that I was finally approved to post on this board though. It's nice to have a support group for this somewhat unusual circumstance of having braces as an adult... (though I understand it's becoming more common nowadays - but it's still mildly embarrassing to me... not as embarrassing as having a mouth full of crooked teeth - including one tooth that was growing out of the roof of my mouth - but I will be VERY glad when I get these braces out of my mouth!)

Suggestion - Maybe the owner of this board should open it up so it doesn't require approval since it takes so long, and assign those that visit more regularly as moderators to keep the drama out? So those seeking help can get their questions answered alot faster.
