My dental insurance doesn't pay for ortho, either. I'm shelling out just under $6000 for mine, not including the extractions I need. Oh, well. It's been long enough, and I'm willing to make the sacrifices I need to.

When I had Aetna insurance, they did not cover adult orthodontics. But the Cigna coverage I have now does, 50% up to a certain amount ... I think $2000 max...
they are just continuous plastic that fit over the whole top or bottom to close up space. You can pick a color...They weren't a nuisance, but the metal lacing...
