What kind of braces do you have?   Message List

Re: What kind of braces do you have?

I have the Damon System style braces. They're smaller brackets and
zero bands. This particular style is called self-ligating which means
that instead of rubber bands to hold the wire on, it uses a trap door
system in the bracket to keep the wire in place. It also uses what he
calls passive low-tension wires which helps move your teeth quickly
and w/ fewer visits for adjustments. I saw my entire bottom row of
teeth straightened out within the first 4wks, my jaw profile has
completely changed in 8wks. I wish I had my "before" shots to show you
but I keep forgetting to ask the ortho to send them to me. I only go
every 8-12wks to get a new wire put on...I have a projected 27months
of treatment which would've been closer to 46 w/ traditional braces.
Great, I sound like a commercial haha.... here is the website if you
want to read more about it.

I really wanted the invisaligns but my case didn't qualify and these
were the next best option. I'm so glad I went with them, seeing such a
rapid change has helped keep me motivated and optimistic about my
treatment. As someone's already pointed out, after the first week or 2
at the most, you won't notice them any longer....it just becomes a
part of your daily living. Good luck !
