I had my ortho work done at a dental school, so there were very few
surprises there ... everything was discussed beforehand and then done
very slowly and double checked.
Spacers ... if you get the rubber kind, they kind of "floss them into
between your teeth". Feels like something stuck in your teeth until
they come out. I had both metal and rubber ones. The metal ones were
threaded through and then twisted. Not as painful as the rubber ones.
Adjustments. Depending on what you need, they may rebend your wire.
Give you a new wire. Always change out the ligatures. Sometimes get
powerchains or rubber bands. These are the kind of things you might
expect as you go along.
If you are allowed, it is a good idea to take some OTC pain meds before
your appt, kind of takes the edge off.
Good luck.
