Hi! Welcome to our group!

This place is for adult autists and aspies. We grew up. We thrived. And we created successful lives. Our definitions of success differ from the way the world "normally" defines success. Our definitions suit us.

Here we come together to share our experiences, thoughts, joys, and sorrows as well as to collect advice to help us succeed in a world filled with people whose physical brains are different from ours.

It is called "Asperger's Syndrome" but WE know that it is not a syndrome or disease or disorder or illness of any kind. It is simply a difference.

Aspies, as we like to call ourselves, are very different from the NTs (neurologically typical people), and our differences result in problems for us. We are easily misunderstood and we easily say what others judge to be the "wrong" thing. We tend to be very honest, frank, and outspoken about almost anything. At the same time, we don't function well in group gatherings or other social meetings. We tend to spend a lot of time alone, which we like, and we hate chit chat and small talk.

We are courageous folks. We usually know that being honest is going to get us into trouble, but we do it anyway. To do otherwise would be going against our very nature, our DNA.

Here we can support each other. We care deeply about other people; we just prefer not to spend a lot of time around other people. Therefore, this email group is a perfect way to share our caring thoughts with each other without having to be in the same physical room with each other.

In the NT world, our honesty can get us into a lot of trouble, but here we appreciate each other's honesty. There are a lot of us, and it is good to know that you are not alone.
