No vomiting is not an reaction to the cortef. She should go into the
hospital right away until she is no longer vomiting. Because of dehydration
and a potenital adrenal crisis. She cortisol levels are not right or she
would not be vomiting. Also one of the most important things about CAH is a
fever and vomiting. Both are considered an emergency. I know because my
daughter died from an adrenal crisis. She was only 2 and 1/2 years old. I
trusted the doctors that told me that the vomiting wasn't related to CAH.
Now everything I read point to it. Please - I beg you to take the vomiting
very seriously!!! Take her a good ped endo and get her cortisol levels under
control. The blood chemistry imbalance is similar to what happens if someone
runs in hot weather and lossing too much salt - the brain swells and the
heart stops and then death. You do not want her to die. I should have not
listened to the stupid doctor that was no help to my daughter. I should have
gotten the best doctor in the world for her. Please do not be in my shoes.
If you do not have solu-cortef - GET IT !!! And know how to inject it.
Waiting hours and hours in the ER but be too late for her also. She will be
dying in your arms or in her crib as you just stand by doing nothing for
her.
Call me at 703 370-4611 at home after 5 pm or at work 703 695-4512 if you
need to know more about CAH. I have two sons with CAH. One is six years and
one is two years old. They have salt lossing CAH - classical CAH.
