Hi Rachael,
Sorry to hear about Dante's illnesses and his eye (fantastic name by the way!)
Just before my Adie's was diagnosed my children had chicken pox. It has been suggested that the nerve damage is connected to the chicken pox virus (varicelle (?)).
Did anyone say this to you?
Rachel

My son Dante is two and a half and has just been discovered to have a
tonic pupil, most probably Adies.
We noticed it at lunch and rushed him to our optometrist. He spent 3
hours doing tests and has said that his pupil is fixed and dilated,
has no filter for light and does not APPEAR to have any visual
response in the pupil part of the eye. Meaning he has a large blind
spot in his left eye.
This came after Mastoiditis last October that went into his brain
(extremely rare ear infection) and chicken pox last fortnight. It
hasnt reduced in size at all and has been referred to an eye
specialist to confirm the diagnosis. If its not Adies it still is some
form of Tonic Pupil. I'm pleased to see theres another wee girl with
it here tho sorry to hear its happened. I dont feel alone!!!
Thanks
Rachael
