I have also noticed I have a problem with water retention, but I haven't read anywhere that it could be a symptom of Aide's syndrome/pupil.

the moment though. I thought the swelling was due to my heel spurs and

That's just because they don't know how or what this is and long term
prognosis. They may know some standard markers (the obivious pupil thing),
but they don't know what peripheral problems may be encountered.
