Re: adie's pupil   Message List

Martina,

When I was first diagnosed with Aide's Syndrome (pupil), my
symptoms were also a sudden onset of sensitivity to bright
light, migraines, reflex problems in my ankles, and strange
sweating patterns. I didn't realize that all these symptoms
were related to Aide's until I started doing research. My
neuro opthomologist, as much of a great guy he is, didn't
give me much information to follow up on, so I took it upon
myself to find out about this rare nuerological disease.

When I was first diagnosed, my eyes were constantly
bothering me, now I just tolerate the pain. I take
Pilocarpine eyedrops to retract my pupils, but lately it
seems that my left pupil is getting bigger. I also take
migraine medication, and this doesn't work well either. I
am to take another MRI & MRA scans to rule out that 1% that
I have a brain tumor; nice huh?

Anyways, in my research, this disease happens to women in
their mid-twenties early thirties. I am 26 years old. I
also checked with my family, and no one in my family, from
mom and dad's sides that anyone has had this happen to
them.

If you have any other questions, read the archives. I
haven't done much research lately. But one thing I would be
interested in finding out is the statistics of this
disease, and how rare it is.
