Stephanie,

How are you? FYI. Shingles (Herpes zoster) is a viral infection
derived from the same virus that causes chicken pox (Varicella
zoster). Anyone who's had chicken pox can develop Herpes zoster. The
virus remains dormant in certain nerve root cells of the body and
only when it reactivates does zoster occur. I’ve read that
approximately 20 % of those people who have had chicken pox will get
herpes zoster at some time during their lives.

Even though they come from the same family Herpesviridae, Varicella
zoster and Herpes Zoster are not to be confused with Herpes Simplex
(type 1 - cold sores (mouth and lip lesions), pharyngitis,
gingivostomatitis, and type 2 – proctitis and genitalia).

It is unknown why Herpes Zoster virus (chicken pox and shingles,
comes back, most likely because of a low immune system that allows
the virus to grow and transfer to the eyes causing shingles in the
eye (which could possibly lead to Aide’s Syndrome).

I remember before being diagnosed with Aide’s Syndrome, that while I
would apply eyeliner to my eyes in the morning before going to work,
that would notice very small blisters (more like bubbles) on my lower
eyelids, and did not think much of it. I thought it was eyelashes
that fell out and what were left were empty hair follicles. Did
anyone detect something like this?

As for the idea of trauma to the eye causing Aide’s Syndrome, has
anyone had this happen to him or her either?

If people think its heredity, has anyone found out from their
families where it came from?

I am curious why and how I got it. Aide’s Syndrome doesn’t have a
definitive root cause. I’ve read other people’s aliments, and I need
to know if there is any preventive measures that, I need to take in
order to keep my eyes from becoming to a degenerative state.

As for the migraines, I get those too; I found out that Aide’s
Syndrome affects the same layer of nerve cells in the back of the
eyes as with people who are afflicted with migraines. If you have
family members who suffer from migraines, most likely that will
happen to you as well.

Hope this information helps clarify things for you.

Take Care,
-Nese
