Hi to all!
I was diagnosed with Adie's pupil about 10 or so years ago. I'm a 45
year old female from Woburn, MA and to be truthful, I never thought
much about it until I read some e-mails on this site. I always
thought it was amusing that whenever I went for an eye appointment,
everyone wanted to check me out. I went for my regular eye
appointment the other day and only because they sent in so many
people in to look at my pupil's did I think I should see what I could
find out about this. I was originally told that I must have had a
virus at some point (they believe when I was in my late 20's, early
30's) that caused me to have Adie's Syndrome, but don't worry about
it, it really wasn't anything. I read with interest the "sweating
patterns" that some of you have - I have been sweating profusely for
quite awhile and always attributed it to hot flashes (I've been
diagnosed with early menopausal symptoms)! When my reflexes have
been tested, my knee on the right side doesn't react as well as to
the left side. Again, I didn't think much about it because the
doctor's weren't concerned. Now I find I'm in this elite group!
My eyesight is awful - I've just been told that I need trifocals,
which I'm not too thrilled about. It was bad enough that I couldn't
read without bifocals or see beyond 1 foot without glasses, but now
I've been having terrible problems working on the computer and
evidently that is a different level of seeing. I have suffered from
migraines for years - which I have been told wasnt' associated with
Adie's pupil, but after reading some of your e-mails, I think is
definetly related. I would appreciate any information you can share
or direct me to. I can be reached at sgerard029@.... Thanks!!!
