Hi, Daniel. I also have slow focal reaction. I use my cruise control a lot so that I don't have to check the speedometer while on the interstate. It is so annoying to look up and be unable to see for a few seconds.

Did you go to an opthamologist? They can diagnose adie's sydrome and prescribe pilocarpine drops to shrink the pupil temporarily. Without my drops I find bright sunlight to be very painful and almost blinding.

Hello.

My symptoms seem to be fairly similar to most peoples.

I thought I'd offer some reassurances to people who are recently
afflicted with Aidies.

I had no trauma, virus or other notable condition at the onset of my
Aidies. I just woke up one morning and noticed my eyesight was
terrible (I don't wear glasses). A few days later I noticed the
larger pupil, I thought at first it was a trick of the light in the
bathroom.

For the first three months after the onset my eyesight gradually
improved, without the use of glasses. Now, about six months later my
eyesight is roughly back to normal.

The remaining symptoms are, sensitivity to sunlight, slow focal
reaction, a large pupil and a dull pain the effected eye when looking
a near objects. The slow focal reaction is the most irritating as it
makes driving difficult (when looking from the speed dial to the
road, for instance, takes a second or two to focus).

I'm fortunate and thus far have no associated headaches. Although if
I focus on any object too near (like, an inch) I can make myself
throw up!.

My gratitude to the existence of this yahoo group - I have
effectively diagnosed myself. The various doctors I went to didn't
diagnose a particular condition, they just told me to try and ignore
it. :(

My best wishes to those with more severe symptoms.

- Daniel.
