Nancy,
I have a 15 year old daughter who does not have ADHD, and is not on any
medication. I will tell you around the age of nine I experienced
irritability from her as well. She started arguing, talking back and I
often found myself wondering who she was - I would say to myself this is not
my daughter - what happened to her!!!!!!
So it may just be the age and not the medication. Just some food for
thought!!!
Talk to you soon.
Lisa G
PS - Did you have a nice vacation?

Subject: [ADHD Parents Support Group] irritablity
My 9 yr. old daughter has been on 10 mg. of generic Ritalin for about 5
weeks now, and is doing very well with it in school. The only side effect at
this point seems to be irritability. However, I am wondering if it is really
from the meds, or perhaps just that cranky pre-teen hormone stuff starting
to kick in. She has NEVER argued with us, or backtalked, but now seems to be
challenging us quite a bit. My question is...I know irrability is a side
effect of the meds-but when would it typically rear its head-when the stuff
wears off, or while they're on it, or a day they're off it or what???
