Your welcome, I'm glad you found my info worth using. I can't stress
enough how valuble the environ. doctor will be. It cost me a lot of
money as Blue Cross doesn't really recognize these doctors yet but
will pay half. If blue cross promoted these doctors everybody would
save money I think.
I've heard with florinef you are supposed to increase your salt
intake (buy sea salt and salt all your food, don't go crazy though).
That might be a large part of your problems. It's important you keep
on it if you have primary.
Since I usually took DHEA at 6am and knew that was a good time to
take it, I pretty much figured that it would work that way with the
cortef.
I took 2.5 mg 4 times today and increasing by 2.5 mg per day until I
get to 20mg. tomorrow will be 5 mg, 2.5mg,2.5mg, 2.5 mg, then the
next day the second dose will also go to 5mg and so on. I'm not sure
what he might have in mind for dosages later (he's told me that my
blood tests and other test show me to be unique in the patients he
has had over 25 years (he's never seen Addison's so no surprise) and
he is still figuring things out as he goes, so I figured I should
show him what others are doing.
Your info has been a help to, I know for sure to take it at 6am.
Thanks alot,
Chris

for an enviornmental docter as well. You had asked where i live as
you might be able to help me find a docter if you knew of one in the
area. I'm in new york city...so theres really gotta be some good
docters out here!
> I'm also going to self test my thryriod as you suggested and see
what happens. right now actually, i'm feeling terribly sick. i missed
my after noon dosage of cortefff yesterday- my pill box had run out
at work and i hadn't refilled it...at anyrate- don't miss dosses- it
take a good day to catch back up. ...which leads me on to that- the
corteff.
> I take 10mg in the morning and 10 at noon. 2 doses a day is
recomended but of course what that does is for everyone is different.
> my docter told me that a "normal" person without addison's hormones
all replenish early in the am, around 4am and use what you need most
early and then tend to taper off in the afternoon towards evening
when you don't need them as much. so he recomended i take the first
dose no later than 6am everyday and my second at noon- as if you wait
too long to take the second dose, your energy will be lacking- big
time. i was origanilly taking the meds when i woke- which was 7 or 8
or even 10 and then again at 4 in the afternoon- my first docter
didn't tell me it mattered, but aparently it matters greatly. takin
it at different times everyday REALLY throws your whole system
off...and missing a dose is not good. i'm extrememly symptomatic and
can't beleive i'm actuall writing all this right now...though i'm
better now then this morning when i couldn't move or stop shaking.
> so make sure to find the right time schedule and stick to it. when
you travel i thought i was to set my clock for normal time and take
meds as i did when home- my docter said not so...said that your body
automatically changes with where you are in the world due to time
zones and so on (amazing) and that you should take it according to
the time in which your in that would normally be when you were taking
it.
> you are also supposed to up your meds when you are sick with
anything like the flu or on other anitbiotics for anything..as your
weeker you need more corteff as you can't create more on your own
like a "normal" person would. he says to up it about one pill for 3
days and then go back to normal, depending on how serious obviously.
> there are side effects- when i was taking it too late in the day
and didn't know it i wasn't sleeping well at night and sweating-
cause you body doesn't need it as much in the evening. also you'll
get bloated and gain weight if you on too high a dose. if your on too
low i've found my energy is aweful i can't concentrate and have
sortness of breath and so on. i hope this is somewhat helpful. it's
really not as complicated as it seems, just something to get used to.
> i am going to try taking florineff again...they started me on that
along with corteff in the begining but i felt like i was too
medicated, even though that might have not been the right thing to
take me off..but they were just trying back then, to find the right
mix for me.....but i do recall having the most energy back then when
i was on both now that i thing about it...and as for salt- i'm an
addict- can't get enough of the stuff.

know of please let me know..it would be greatly appreciated.
