RE: [Addison's Disease] Digest Number 44

hello everyone, i wanted to reply also- it just blows my mind how we all share
the - which i think nuttiest symptoms of this disease- but at the same time
makes me feel so much better to know i'm not the only one.i struggle with the
weight issue and depression but have a pretty good handle on that. i'm on zolaft
and my corteff is at 20mg a day.it seems to be the best match for me yet and i
think when you take your meds plays a huge part as well...i was taking my meds
at the wrong time of day and hitting a huge wall everyday at around mid
afternoon- i could barely hold my head up...now i take them at different times
per my docter and i'm doing much better as far as daily energy goes.losing
weight seems so much harder as time goes on...i know age plays a roll, but i
know it's more the steriods over time. i used to be 120 and now am 145 ideally
i'd like to be 135 cause 120 was too small for me anyways- those were the days,
but even when i eat extremely well- which i tend to anyways to feel better and
exercise- i still really can't get it off, and i can't work out hard enough to
take it off cause it just wipes me out....i think the thing i have to do is find
a happy medium and be greatful i'm as healthy as i am. but it's frustrates me
so!the salt-i'm a beast- i can' t get enough- and someone mentioning the salt
hangover- that was great- i get that all the time...i go nuts without it...eat
WAY too much but what can ya do- we need to.anyways that's enough for me- just
wanted to share. take care everyone.

I just wanted to respond as well, I've been diagnosed with Hypothyroid
in 1995 and Addison's in 1996. Before being diagnosed, I worked out 1-2
times every single day & during the time was barely able to walk up a
flight of stairs without having to 'rest' for a few minutes. Now, I can
work out again, but I also struggle with the weight problem. When 1st
diagnosed I was 115 lbs. & now about 170 lbs. It is tough, I also crave
salt a lot too. I'm on about the lowest dose of the steroids I can be
on (30 mg/day) and I also take Paxil (20mg). I still struggle with
tiredness a lot but over all I do pretty well. Incase you haven't yet,
here are a couple of good sights to look at:

Hi Beth,

Thanks so much for your input. You know, my
Endocronologist did not say anything about salt. Wierd
since my web research yesterday was all over it. So I'll
try that. I noticed I have a larger desire for salt. Never
used it before but sure do now.

I also noticed on that Australian Addisions web site that
taking the cortisone as soon as I get up in the morning
matches our bodies natural daily cycle. So I am trying that
today.

I don't want to take an antidepressant. I'm already taking
like five drugs a day to shrink the tumor and since my last
visit to the Endo last week high cholesterol and high blood
pressure medicine too now (related to Addisons I discovered
yesterday). So I feel more like a walking pharmacy. LOL

Thanks again for your input I'm looking forward to
participating in this group.

Regards,

Beverly
