Hi again,
Let's see my Dr. said I wasn't born with it - he said it usually
hereditary although I do not know anyone in my family that was born with
it or has ever had it! So, it had to develop later in life....thinking
about it now, I can almost pinpoint when it probably started....there
was a time when I got a virus & threw up a lot for several days & it
seems as if I never fully recovered from that......then about a year
later I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, my Dr. said I'd be back to
'normal' within a few weeks and a year later when I still wasn't they
ran tests for the Addison's Disease. My Dr. said that a lot of people
who have Hypothyroid get Addison's but not everyone. I really don't
remember much about my blood work at that time, my family Dr. ran the
tests & then sent me to my Endocrinologist, while I was waiting on the
results of my blood work from him, I developed Strep throat and it was a
Friday afternoon & I was about to go to a walk in clinic when they
called with my results & said "get in here now!" So I went in & they
treated me with some IV's and started me on the meds - Cortef &
Florinef. Now I'm doing OK. I can work out now, but because the meds
increase your appetite it is very hard to diet and I'm not that good at
watching what I eat, etc...but I try too, I am still not 100% meaning
there are some things I just 'live with' but for the most part I have a
good life & feel good.
Tahnya

Tahnya,
Thanks so much for your response. Thank goodness you caught it
before something terrible happened. Did the doctor say this is
something you were born with - or developed later in life?
I also used to work out a lot - I ran 2x a day. I was in great
health/shape. It is tough to lose that. How are you doing now?
Is
your diet very rigid?
One last question: were your electrolyte (sodium, potassium)
blood
#'s 'normal? Mine are...
