Panama (VNA) - Viet Nam will help Panama establish a pilot
acupuncture centre in Panama City as the first step toward setting up a
national acupuncture institute in the future.


To this effect, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between
Panama's Health Ministry and a mission from the Viet Nam Central
Acupuncture Hospital, led by Director Prof. Nguyen Tai Thu, who is
currently on a visit to Panama.


During its stay, the delegation met with Speaker of Panama's Legislative
Assembly Elias Castillo.


The Speaker praised Viet Nam's struggle for independence and
acknowledged recent progresses in poverty reduction and socio-
economic development.


He also noted the initiatives to build an equitable, democratic and
civilised nation of the Vietnamese Party and State.


Additionally, Elias Castillo affirmed that he would back all incentives
aimed at expanding friendly and all-round cooperative ties with Viet
