Viet Nam attends Int'l Acupuncture Conference in Australia

Sydney, Nov. 3 (VNA) -- A Vietnamese delegation led by Prof. Nguyen
Tai Thu, President of the Viet Nam Acupuncture Association and
Director of the Central Acupuncture Hospital was in Brisbane,
Australia, to attend the 6th International Acupuncture held from
Oct. 28-31.
At the conference, Prof. Nguyen Tai Thu was re-elected as Vice
President of the WFAS and Dr. Nguyen Viet Thai, who is the General
Secretary of the Viet Nam Acupuncture Association, was elected as a
member of the World Federation of Acupuncture - Moxibustion
Societies (WFAS) executive board.
Prof. Nguyen Tai Thu's report on the electro-puncture research to
help drug addicts in detoxification has been praised by the
participants. Many professors and doctors from the United States,
Britain, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia and India met Prof. Nguyen
Tai Thu, and made proposals for cooperation with Viet Nam in
scientific research into acupuncture and the study of acupuncture.
During his stay in Sydney, Prof. Nguyen Tai Thu was received by
Prof. Marie Bashir, Governor of New South Wales. The host expressed
her admiration for Viet Nam's progress in medical services,
especially for the combination of the traditional and modern methods
of disease prevention and treatment and also expressed her wish for
long-lasting and effective cooperation between Viet Nam and
Australia.
The conference, which was attended by 720 delegates from 45
countries worldwide, aims to strengthen the exchange of experiences,
focusing on the use of acupuncture method in disease prevention and
treatment.
Participants in the conference reviewed scientific research in
acupuncture and exchanged experiences on disease prevention and
treatment using the acupuncture methods.-Enditem
