Re: hi! accutane help
Hi Ann,
I am 28 and in my last month and a half of treatment. I still get
cysts, though not a frequently and instead of lasting weeks or
months like they used to, they go away in a week or so now. It took
almost 3 months before I could really see an improvement in my
skin. Try Aquaphor ointment for your dry lips and use a salene
nasal spray or gel to help if you get nosebleeds or just dry
nostrils. I didn;t start getting nosebleeds till the Dr upped my
dose (I take 80 Mg a day- 40 mg in the am and 40 mg at night) a
month and a half ago. The first month I was on accutane I had
random minor headaches and my Dr said only to worry if I noticed a
pattern where I get the headache a few hours after taking the
accutane every day. Everything your experiencing is listed as side
effects but you know yourself best and only you can make the call if
you should call your Dr and get seen earlier. I also have started
to "lose" some hair- when I brush it or shampoo it many strands more
than usual will break off- I have not noticed a thinning of my hair
though. I've been told that this side effect reverses after coming
off the accutane.
One other side effect I have is loss of appetite- which is fine with
me! I have lost just over 10 lbs since starting the accutane approx
4 mos ago. If you do experience this also let your Dr know if you
lose a fair ammt of weight cause they base the dose on your weight.
Hope this info helps!
Sue
