House for Bilateral above elbow amputee.   Message List

I have a foreign fiance who lost both arm in an accident. She has never received
formal
therapy and needs a lot of help. She is very capable at taking care of things
outside of herself
like writing, cooking and laundry. She has never learned to care for herself in
areas like
dressing and using the toilet. She is to arrive in American and we will marry
sometime in
December or January. In the meantime I would like some advice on how to prepare
the house
to best help her until I can get her on my health insurance and enrolled in a
therapy
program. I do not mind helping her but like all of us I have to work to support
a family and
can not be with her 24/7. I have thought about a visiting nurse but all of the
agencies I spoke
with said she needs a doctors referral first. I want to do everything possible
to set her up for
success and happiness.
Thanks for your help,
Dave
