Workshop discusses adolescence issues

Chandigarh, January 02: A STATE-level advocacy workshop
on `Adolescent Development and Empowerment' was organised by Nehru
Yuva Kendra at Commonwealth Youth Programme Asia Centre, Sector 12,
today.
The workshop was inaugurated by P H Vaishnav, former chief secretary,
Government of Punjab.
Around 60 participants from Punjab and Chandigarh attended the
workshop.
The main objective of the workshop was to focus on the overall
development of adolescents and to emphasise on their active
participation in nation reconstruction activities.
In his inaugural address, Vaishnav said that the problems of
adolescents should be focused in urban as well as rural areas. "The
health, career, recreation, and various other issues related to
adolescents should be considered and strategies should be planned
accordingly to overcome these problem," said Vaishnav. During the
workshop, issues like HIV/AIDS, reproductive and sexual health were
discussed. In this workshop, Col Ravi Bedi, Dr Avnish Jolly, G S
Kajla, Amarpreet Singh, Lavlin, Samson Masih and Dr G S Bajwa were
the resource persons.
