Re: [a-i-m] need some meetings on line.
Hi, I'm just now getting to read your email my computer was being fixed. I joined aim but really didn't get any responses well just a few. I know for me I went through a major setback in 2000. We too lost a child well she was still born Nov 5th 2000. Prior to that I had a miscarriage, my Mom passed away after a long illness, I had thryoid cancer, and then we lost our Yvonne. At the time we were living in PA and my husband had gotten a promotion and it meant moving to NY.
Until that day in Nov it seemed that things were turning around but insteand of moving to NY with a Baby I found myself all alone in an apartment in NYC. My Husband had to go to GA for over 2 months to train for his new promotion.
Also I had to do follow up for my thryoid cancer and see new Drs and stuff. Anyway the point of sharing all this is that I joined a chat room online but it shut down so I started one with a core group of people who I meet. I ran classes on coping skills for "being alone" , "driving", obsessive thoughts, etc.
It was great for me because I needed to remember the coping skills I used when I first started getting panic attacks.
I'm not sure but I know that
www.ivilliage.com use to have people who ran groups. I wanted to run one but fortunately for me after everything settled down I got pregnant and had a beautiful Daughter April 03. So I didn't want to commit to being online every week at a specific time.
I would definitly check out
www.ivilliage.com and see if they need hosts. Honestly, I don't know who benefits more the people you help sharing your coping skills or you. I found it very rewarding when I ran that support group online. It was very theraputic.
Keep me posted and I'm here too if you just need an email buddy :)
Often it helps to just share it sounds like you have had a lot of stress and as my psycharists explained to me when we moved to NYC it was just years of accumulated stress that caused me to have the setback. If you think about it it makes sense. So just remember you are not alone and I really think if you want to monitor a group that would be awesome. The only place I can think of is ivillage but I haven't gone to that website since my 2 year was born.
Glad you email me T/C
Mary Ellen

Subject: [a-i-m] need some meetings on line.
hi mary ann
this is pat catanese.and as you know i announced my recovery several
years ago ,without medication .just the tools of aim and support and
exposure.and it works ,however i have suffered a few setbacks due to
several deaths in my famith including my son,
i know the tools and i know how to run a meeting .i would love to
start a meeting -on line ,as a leader.i think i would benifet and the
people who are having difficulty would benifet.
there are many ways to go about it ,as a set time such a day of the
week where people meet on line in real time .
table talk would be the way you set in the beginning .no
symptoms .just reactions and how to deal with them.as dr.toten always
used to say ,u know what happened now what are u gonna do about it.
i would like to get get feedback and support on my idea.
i started aim in 1991.back in the days when people
worked hard at the
tools and got a lot of support and a pat on the back for the work
well done.if you dont believe u can do it I will believe it for u.
i firmly believe in affirmations, and baby steps exposure.
any one interested .its also fun and friendly after the meeting to
have a few words to help to get to know each other a little.
let me know.
pat.
