Hi, I found this email support group online. I have had bouts with agrophobia on and off for years. There was a time when I could't leave the house, be alone or drive anywhere. However; over the years things have changed for the better but I still have travel challenges.
That is why I'm going back to the basics which got me started driving again. Here is my current situation. We just moved to MD mid March from NY. For the 7 years we lived in NY I barely drove. Prior to that I was driving short distances by myself and long distances with my husband or someone. City driving was really a challege and I really didn't need to practice for various reason.
Now to my present day situation. We moved here to MD I have a 2 yr old Son and a 5 yr old Daughter. My Daughter will be starting kindergarten end of Aug and I'm not sure if she will be picked up by the bus. We are just under a mile. Plus even if she does get a bus I still want to be able to get to her school if she needs me.
So as I stated earlier back to the basis. A few days again I started practicing driving to her school. I'm about 2 tenths of a mile from her school. Those of you with travel challenges know how big a deal it is that I'm already making it 6 tenths of mile to her school. And LOL also can understand how challenging those last 2 tenths can be too.
Also going into the school and so on which right now I'm not even going to think about that stuff until I acomplish my first goal getting to her school.
Anyway that is why I joined the group. Fortunately along the road to recovery I have learned some tips and I also know that support is important. So I'm open to suggestions and hopefully I also can aid other on their road to recovery in things I have handled.
Thanks again for letting me be part of your group.
