My name is Pat and I have been with AIM for about a year and a half now.
When I first started I had terrible panic and anxiety attacks. Thanks to
the tools of AIM I was able to announce my recovery a few months ago! The
tools really work if you use them. I am now a "Recovered Recovering Anxious
Person".....there is always room for improvement. I feel better now that I
ever have in my life!
The meetings at AIm are very warm and friendly. From the first time you
come to one, you feel like you belong to one big family. Everyone
understands what you are going through because they are going through the
same thing. The meeting starts with 4 deep breaths, then the Serenity
prayer. The tools are read next by member volunteers. Examples are given
of how they used the tool during the past week. Next are the success
stories. I really like this part. It is great to see people getting up and
telling what they have accomplished. Everyone is so happy for them. I
enjoy both reading a tool and giving a success story.
Next, there are the announcements and then we take a 10 minute break. After
that we split up into tables and talk about whatever is on our minds.
Everyone takes turns (if they want, you are never pressured into doing or
saying anything). A lot of good feed back is received at the table talks.
