According to the Essential Oils Desk Reference (EDR), 2007 4th Edition:

Shingles is a short-lived viral infection of the nervous system that starts with fatigue,  fever,  chills, and intestinal upset. The affected skin areas become sensitive and prone to blistering. One attack usually provides immunity for life. However, for many people, particularly the elderly, pain can persist for months, even years.

NOTE: Occurrences of shingles around the eyes or on the forehead can cause blindness. Consult an ophthalmologist immediately if such outbreaks occur.

First Recommendations: Ravensara, niaouli, Thieves

Other Singles:
Blue cypress, elemi, Idaho tansy, tea tree, oregano, mountain savory, oregano, sandalwood, thyme, peppermint

Other Blends Australian Blue, Exodus II

Shingles Blend:
10 drops German chamomile
5 drops lavender
4 drops sandalwood
2 drops geranium

Application Method:
Topical – Dilute 50:50 with base oil; apply 6 – 10 drops to the affected area, back of neck and down the spine (where viruses reside).
