unless your shoes were tied too tight, i'm not sure what caused the
numbness in your foot while you were running. and yes, this also
happened to me about seven years ago when i started doing runs longer
than three miles and it was normally in my left foot. my shoes weren't
tied tight, so i never knew what caused it and it was usually on runs
longer than three miles. it didn't hurt or was so uncomfortable, but
eventually, after a few of those "long" runs, the numbness stopped.
so if it happens again to you, and it makes you very uncomfortable,
just stop. if you're ok with it and you're not in pain or afriad
something may happen, you can just finish your run.
