Hey Anastasia & Ellie... Good to hear from you. Isn't the internet amazing! I am
originally a New Yorker but my mom & dad moved here when I was 12 so I guess I
can claim to be Irish....
Anyway as far as working out goes.... I rarely train on my own anymore as I
really do enjoy the companionship found in the gym class situation. I have been
a member of my local gym for about 10yrs now and I have a core group of loyal
gym friends who participate in the classes along with me for the last 5yrs! Its
a great motivator knowing that those friends are there waiting for me. We really
boost each other. We currently have 2 really excellent instructors.... Daniela &
Clare. Daniela takes us thru Spinning which is really tough going. Clare takes
us thru an Upper Body w/out on Monday and Lower Body on Wednesday. Its a pretty
free form class using just a set of dumb - bells and a Swiss ball with cardio
and plyometrics thrown in. She keeps us guessing every week which is the
greatest way to train.... it stops the body from getting bored! I do a Step
Class on Tuesdays with Daniela, and attempted my first class of 'Bouldering'
last Thursday... rock/wall climbing. Not sure
about it..... mind you the 2 young Aussie lads participating were gorgeous! I
have Kickboxing and Pilates on tomorrow. I don't really do all that much at the
weekends.... it depends on my mood.... I may get in a Spin class or a cardio
class on Sunday. A new class is about to start up at the weekend for youngsters
aged 10+ which my eldest daughter is keen to join.... so I may use the
opportunity to lift some weights. Unfortunately running just isn't my thing
anymore..... I did alot when I was younger but I just don't enjoy it.... so I
made a decision not to do it anymore. I don't miss it. There is a book by Matt
Roberts called Fitness for Life Manual. He is one of the celebrity personal
trainers based in the UK. He has quite a good 16 week marathon training
program.... it is a combo of running and lower body workouts.
My Jane Fonda Workout book is still on my bookshelf and I will never get rid
of it. It moulded my love of working out which is very much a part of who I am.
Other than all that training.... I must confess I knit in my free time!!!!! I
believe knitting burns 90 calories per hour!!!! Wonder who calculated that
figure!
Keep training!!

welcome to the group! everyone from all parts of the world and all
walks of life are welcomed here! i hope you enjoy your stay here. :)
other than spin class, what do you do for your lower body work outs? i
kinda need some ideas on that part of my body. i just recently (this
week) decided to run a half marathon (13.1 miles or 20.08 kilometers)
here in los angeles, ca and i just started training for it this week. i
don't go to the gym or own a personal one at home, but i can see what i
can do that is similar to your work out.
