Hello friends, my name is shirley and I am a recovering alcoholic.
Are we in danger of relapse when our inventories reveal to us, that we are in a
"bad spot" and we don't do anything to change it? Have we forgotten that we are
alcoholics?
That we are incapable of withstanding the narcotic effect of alcohol.
That complacency will lower our gaurd and allow resentment and intolerance to
sneak back into our lives. When we become cocky over our AA success and cease
contact with our HP/God.
When we ease up on the practice of honesty, humility, and making amends.
When we lack interest in new members and feel it a waste of time to help them.
When we demand authority or expect praise for our sobriety.
When boredom and loss of interest sets in. When we start missing AA meetings.
When we stop studying the BIG BOOK.
When our inventories reveal any of these symptoms, we stand in jeopardy
of relapse!
The most serious danger that causes relapse is that of our self-centeredness,
which in turn causes a severe case of "spiritual blackout".
There is no point in denying that we are in a "BAD SPOT". There is no point in
deceiving ourselves over the fate of the alcoholic who does not
take his/her inventories, seriously.
The AA program is a way of life and to avoid "RELAPSE" we work the program to
the best of our ability and use the knowledge we have acquired in AA, to help us
escape the "Insanity" of future drinking.
Have a great day in your recovery!
Your friend, shirley
