Today was an awesome, productive, memorable day filled with gratitude
for me in recovery. My wife and I took our daughter to see "Sesame
Street Live" this morning (she loved it and was very well behaved ..
a hotdog and $15 tee-shirt doesn't hurt .. how DO they get away with
the price gauging at these shows!?) :)
This afternoon my daughter and I spent some quality one-on-time while
my wife went shopping (something that has been on our never-ending to-
do list .. she needed new contact lenses and jeans and clothes for
work). So while my wife was out, my daughter and I went for a long
hour+ walk around the neighborhood and then came home so I could give
her a nice, relaxing bath. She and I also "visited" with my Mom and
Dad on the computer (love the Internet webcams)...
Once my wife came back from shopping we ate dinner as a family and
then she went back out to Alanon tonight. Notice I did not make a
meeting today .. very rare for me, but I do try to enable my wife to
get to her meeting at least once a week on Saturday nights. It's
important for us BOTH to get our recovery!
It's quiet in the house now .. wife is at her meeting, daughter is
sleeping .. so I am sending a weekend check-in to keep my sobriety a
priority in my life. I am also listening and participating in
another "online Voice AA meeting".
Anyway, I hope you are also having a great weekend on the right side
of the bottle :)
I mention these good days in this written forum to show that this
Program DOES work .. and to spread some HOPE for anyone struggling.
Here's to a great 24 :)
