I had an awesome weekend with my family. On Saturday I took my wife
and daughter to the golf driving range which was great for several
reasons - it was good family fun, I'm teaching my daughter about the
game at a very young age like my father taught me, and it was the
first time I was able to pick up a golf club since I got sober a year
and a half ago. I was happy to see I could still hit the ball :)
Looking forward to next season - I'll try to get out and play with
some sober friends in the rooms who are also "hackers".
On Sunday we went clothes shopping - my wife got some outfits for
work and I bought two real nice formal suits (the ones I have are
from before I got married in 2000) .. I was long overdue for some new
formal-wear. Also bought some stylish shirts and ties. Total shopping
bill for the day: about $1,200 bucks! Financial insecurity will leave
us -- I aint rich but I aint broke today. Most importantly I am
learning to be a little less cheap / stingy.
Next weekend we are going to see "Sesame Street Live" - again,
something that costs money - but in recovery I am able to enjoy
spending it (without putting us into debt). It's nice to no longer
have lawyer bills, an ongoing car repair from another stupid accident
(usually drunk - never got caught) .. not to mention the cost of
booze!
Anyway, extremely busy week of work coming up - I better stay focused
so I can keep making commissions at this spending rate :) Lots of
Serenity Prayers will be required during the 9-5 workday I'm sure...
