Every night before bed my wife and I have "vespers" together, which
means the last nightly prayer. I share my journal with her, which I
write each evening after dinner to 10th Step my day. We then read and
both share on the A.A. Daily Reflections and a reading from Alanon.
This healthy, nightly communication has really helped our relationship
since I got sober. We also share what we are grateful for, and then I
hit my knees in a quick prayer and we go to bed.
Anyway, last night we read something from "Hope For Today" (Alanon
literature). The day's reading on page 149 had an awesome thought that
I wanted to share here in my morning check-in:
"Serenity often comes and goes in my life depending on the effort I put
into welcoming it or pushing it away. I can't will serenity, but I can
create an environment where it's more likely to blossom".
