Thanks for allowing me to enter this group
discussion on "recovered" alcoholics. Over the years in my sobriety
I've always marveled at the spirited discussion at meetings when this
word comes up.
I sobered up on 22 July 1979 in a treatment center in my home town and
have remained sober in AA since then. Over the years I've been active
in service work in AA related activities and I've served on boards of
clubs dedicated to hosting AA meetings. I currently serve on the board
of directors of a public facility for detoxing alcoholics.
Even today I attend 4 meetings a week, still sponsor half a dozen men
who are active in the program and am available for anybody struggling
in their early days of trying to sober up.
I've swung between regarding myself as "recovering" or "recovered", so
this forum seemed attractive to me. I am looking forward to being a
part of this group.
