Dear Sandy,
I know what you mean about the 7yr-3yr thing. Only I have a
3yr. old who looks like a 6 yr. old but acts like a terrible twoer. I
don't know what age I'm supposed to be addressing most times! I do
know that I would love to wrap him in a blanket of love and keep him
from all the down right cruel ***holes he'll meet in life, excuse the
language. I do remember one time last year, Earl was mastering
stairs, not doing great but progressing, there was a group of kids,
teenagers, and they thought it was just the funniest thing in the
world watching this little boy struggle up our apartment steps. I was
so mad I could've beaten everyone of those brats, but I just focused
on Earl and praised him when he got to the top....then I realized
what he was going to have to hear growing up,things like dummy, and
retarded(which means held back). Then I realized that my son was
delayed, he was given a bum deal and it slows him down. The people
that were given perfectly healthy bodies and brains but don't have
the decency or common sense to use them for something a little more
productive than taunting young kids, are the ones being held back not
our boys. Yeah, so our kids have big heads, so maybe they don't quite
learn as fast as everyone else in the class,so what, they're going to
catch up in their own sweet time, and I have a feeling that when it
comes to important things like sense of
self, compassion, generosity, and love they will be far more advanced
then some others. These are very special kids each and everyone of
them, and not because of what they have, but because of what they will
endure and who they will become!!!!!Love you all!!Jenny
