Hi Sandy, great hearing from you!!! How are you & your family doing? yes we are getting ready for Thanksgiving. It is celebrated on the third Thursday every November. It started many years ago when the first settlers came to America and shared a meal with the native Americans (native Americans AKA Indians). Now it is celebrated by having family, extended family etc gather together for a feast, main dish is usually Turkey and/or ham, with all the fixings and special occasion foods, lots of pies and goodies. It is a time that we express how thankful we are to everyone and everything. A time to enjoy company of our dearest family and friends. Some families only get together for this holiday only seeing each other once a year because of distance, and everyone just gets busy with everyday life. It is one of my personal favorites holidays here in the states. Some holidays I feel have grown out of proportion, Christmas for instance, we are supposed to be celebrating Jesus
birthday (even thought I think his actual birthday in in April, correct me if I am wrong anyone) the sacrifices that have been made for us and our children's etc. Now it is all about presents under the tree. If you ask a child what we are celebrating they would probably answer a couple weeks off from school, food and presents. Sorry did not mean to ramble, what holidays do you celebrate?
Take care!!!
April
