Dear Group
Member,
I am again apologizing to you all. Apparently you have
received a file called Jared's Education Plan and some personal journal
entries of mine. What an introduction. Believe me, these are
private concerns that I would never share, but I guess a virus quite
happily would. Does anyone know how to stop this
aggravation?
I'm so sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused
you. I hope when we do meet, you don't hold this against
me.
Regards to all,
Beth Powell

Julia, you're excused! I agree with you completely. A virus attached my
personal journal writings in my documents file and sent it to the Weston A.
Price Foundation group. Don't open any attachments from me. I don't send
them.
Sorry for my embarassing introduction. I hope we can laugh about this
sometime.
Sincerely,
Beth

Dear Louise,
Thank you for the warning. I checked my sent file because I didn't remember
sending any file entitled "discussed.exe". What did you use to scan the
attachment? I think that I may have to do the same here.
Thank you.

Hi Beth and everyone,
My name is Louise Mitchell. I live in Baltimore and

I will forward you and the entire group a list of his
products this morning. He works with another farmer
who has a refrigerated van and a computer, fax, etc.
who emails the order form and takes orders by email

I can sort out the orders when they come in.
My phone number is 410-426-4213. Call to touch base
and we can go with email from there.
Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving and hope
preparations for the Christmas/Hannakah holiday are

Hello, I was wondering when your next local chapter meeting is being held. I also would be interested in local resources and suppliers for good nutrition.
OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE A POTLUCK (NO FORMAL MEETINGS AT POTLUCKS) JANUARY 13TH IN ANNAPOLIS.. DETAILS TO SOON FOLLOW.. I HAVE PUT YOU ON THE MAILING LIST WAP EVENTS...THERE IS A YAHOO GROUPS THAT YOU JOIN, NO CHARGE, TO POST SOME OF YOUR QUESTIONS TO.. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WAPAnnapolis I will forward you the intro letter about this site.. Kate Brown is the Communication chair and has kindly set this up for all of us. some of your questions could be answered by others from that site.
I did find a dairy farmer who privately agreed to let me help myself to raw milk for $2 a gallon. I really wish that it were legal to purchase milk this way so that I can refer others to him. I have personally started using milk for the first time in 15 years as a beverage. We had allowed our children to only have milk with cereal and encouraged them to throw the rest out. Our animals wouldn't even touch the pasteurized milk, but they love the raw milk. THAT IS SO COOL.. WE HAVE A DELIVERY HERE EVERY 3 WEEKS FROM A FARM IN PA- RAW CHEESE, MILK, CREAM, BUTTER, YOGURT , BEEF, CHICKEN, VEAL.. INCASE YOU NEED MORE SOURCES Do you have directions on how to cook a goose? I'd like to bring an old Powell family tradition from Idaho back into my husband's life, Christmas goose. I'm assuming that it's the same as cooking turkey. NO I DO NOT -- BUT PERHAPS SOMEONE ON THE YAHOO GROUPS DOES Can Kombucha tea be made with red raspberry leaf or some other tea, other than black? We eschew black and green teas in our diet as counseled by the Lord in the Word of Wisdom part of the scriptures. Can we buy Kombucha tea already made with something other than black or green tea as the base? I know that we need it to make Kombucha tea along with the Kombucha mushroom. I FEEL THE SAME WAY, AND DO NOT DRINK IT BECAUSE OF THIS.. HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN TOLD OVER AND OVER NOT TO CONCERN MYSELF WITH THE BLACK TEA OR SUGAR.. POST ON YAHOO Thank you for addressing my questions. Hope you have a great weekend. Beth Powell Towson, Maryland

Hi Friends,
I am new to the group. I'm a resident of Towson, a wife and a mother of 4 children, one of whom got married in the Washington D.C. temple two weeks ago. Last spring was my first encounter with Weston A. Price Foundation (the workshop). I have appreciated all the principles I have learned to bring more nutrition to the table. I know enough to have some questions that I'd like to post to you. If you get a chance to respond, I'd be very grateful.
I made fish stock on Monday and Tuesday. I used rockfish that was partially filleted and gutted. I used the whole carcass and the skin was left on by the fishmonger at Fresh Fields. Now, I'm defatting the stock before I put the containers in the freezer. My question is this: May I feed the dog and the cat what they are begging for, the head and the bones? What about the tail? The bones seem soft enough like the sardines in the can, but I don't know enought about the head bones.
Does anyone have a good recipe for creamed spinach? I have to bring that as well as mashed potatoes and chestnuts to my sister's for Thanksgiving dinner.
How about Seafood Newberg? I have 30 people coming for dinner on Christmas. I am determined to follow the Nourishing Traditions principles in everything that I serve.
I am going to forward to the group another email that I sent to Lee and her response. If any of you can respond to the question about the Kombucha tea or add to what I requested information on, that would be great!
Hello everyone,
I volunteered to bring a tape recorder with a microphone for the Nov. 13
meeting with Dr. Sambatoro. Since then, I've realized that my recording
equipment is not very portable. Is there anyone who has a boombox with a
plug-in for a microphone? If so, I can bring my mike. It has adapters for
plug size.
If you would like to respond to me alone, my address is
vianne-roger@.... My phone is 410-721-9145.
Thanks so much,
Vianne (rhymes with Dianne)
Just
a friendly reminder:when you get
an email from the WAPAnnapolis Yahoo group, hitting REPLY sends your message to
EVERYONE on the list.Sometimes
that’s what you want to do, and that’s fine----but other times, you may want to
send a message directly to me at my individual email, which is kate@...
if your subject matter doesn’t concern everyone in the group.
We would like to remind you of this upcoming event.
Meeting: Dr. Eugene Sambataro, Guest Speaker
Date: Tuesday, November 13, 2001
Time: 7:00PM - 9:00PM EST (GMT-05:00)
Dr. Sambataro will discuss differences between traditional and
biological
dentistry. Learn how poor oral health can affect your heart and
your mind,
not just your gums! Hear about the latest advances in dental
care, like
pain-free novicaine, air abrasion and other new treatments that
can protect
the health of you and your family. Dr. Sambataro will also
address the
use of environmentally safe materials and techniques in his
practice,
including the controversial use of mercury and silver amalgam
fillings.
This will be an extremely informative and provocative
discussion, so sign
up early. Space is limited. Please RSVP to 410-571-0109.
Just a friendly reminder to change the subject line to
reflect the topic of your message, the recent
conversation regarding osteoporosis all came under the
subject of joining the email list! Peace, Julia

Hi, Debi,
It's true that each person is unique and will have an individual health
pattern. Even if you are eating all the right nutrients in your diet, there
is the possibility that you are not absorbing them. Poor absorbtion is
often the reason that nutrients do not find their way into the body where
they can provide intended health. Especially by the time one reaches ones'
forties, often the digestion is impaired. In this case, the use of
proteolytic and other digestive enzymes can be life transforming.
When one has a family history of osteoporosis, it is especially important to
look into all the possible causes. Without doing a nutrition assessment, it
would be hard to evaluate whether your diet is giving you all you need.
I agree with you that having a wholesome diet that includes both animal and
vegetable foods is the foundation of good health.
I hope you will find a healthy solution without having to resort to unwanted
medications.
with kind regards,
Latidjah

Thank you, Latidjah, for the quick response. Unfortunately or fortunately
I am taking
MG supplements, but 5 years ago my DEXA scan showed osteopenia and I think
I am getting worse. I should be getting plenty of amino acids, I think, by
eating
meat and dairy, and I take a cod liver oil supplement, but there must be
something else going on in the menopausal body that causes the lack of CA
absorption that I am not aware of, and I sure the doctors don't understand
either,
except to use HRT or Fosamax, etc.
Mary Enig said it was normal for high cholesterol during
menopause, which I agree, but my grandmother had osteoporosis and died
of a stroke and it seems I am following her health path but have been
unable
to find a doctor that doesn't want me to start eating a more vegetarian
diet
and start taking Fosamax.
I will check the web page out that you recommended, but I am tired
of fighting with doctors. My mother is built big, never been a vegetarian,
never took hormones, never had a mammogram, and is very healthy at 70,
except for bone loss.
Have a ncie day.

There must be something that I'm not doing. I still am unable to pull anything
up from the web page but the home page. When I click on any of the other
listings on the left side of the page nothing happens.

This is our group homepage on the Web. This is where you'll go when
you want to post to the group. When you go there, look to the left
side list---you'll see "Messages" as one choice, from which you can
post---and also "Files" and "Bookmarks" and "Calendar" that we've
added for things of interest to the group.
Another way to post is to "REPLY" to a message that you receive from
the group---but make sure you manually change the subject line to
reflect the content of whatever you are posting.

Hi, Debi,
Osteoporisis is largely due to the lack of absorbtion of calcium, not the
lack of presence of calcium in the body. Calcium is the most abundant
mineral available in our bodies, usually. Often the bone marrow is underfed
and this leads to osteoporosis. The bone marrow needs two things to
flourish - amino acids and fatty acids. I'm sure that Mary Enig will agree
with this. The other contributing factor in ostoeporosis is often low
magnesium levels. So, if you focus on getting adaquate amounts of essential
amino acids and essential fatty acids, along with sufficient magnesium, and
of course, exercise, you will win the battle with osteoporosis for sure.
If you need a nutrition consultation, you can access two "non-vegetarian"
health care professionals on-line at www.HumanDiamond.com
with kind regards,

Hi Kate
I was wondering if you have info from the price-pottenger group about
osteoporosis? I have had
private conversations with Mary Enig about cholesterol since my cholesterol
skyrocketed with
menopause, but we did not discuss osteoporosis which I know I probably have
and I am
a candidate for osteoporosis and heart disease, and not because I am
overweight, but
menopausal.
Are there any local doctors that are holistic that are not vegetarians?
Thank you and have a nice day.

In last night's Annapolis paper, The Capital, our letter to the
editor regarding harassment in our community was published
in "Reader's Views."
If you'd like to see the article on The Capital website, available
today only, go to:
http://www.hometownannapolis.com/cgi-bin/read/live/10_25-26/OPN
After about two days, The Capital archives their articles and you
have to pay to access them.
If you're reading this message after Friday, October 26, you can
still see the letter as a Word document file available on our group
page (Click on the folder that says "IN THE NEWS")at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WAPAnnapolis/files/
First, some background. For those members who weren't able to attend
the October chapter meeting, many of us signed a letter to Mr. & Mrs.
Anand of Annapolis, offering to escort them (and/or any of their
friends) to do their errands. Mrs. Anand had earlier been the victim
of verbal abuse as she went to the Annapolis Post Office a few days
after the attacks of September 11. A man at the post office banged
on the hood of her car and shouted at her, apparently because he
thought she was of Middle Eastern ancestry. This incident was
reported on the front page of The Capital on September 24.
A copy of the letter we delivered to Mrs. Anand's shop is posted here
at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WAPAnnapolis/files/Correspondence/
As we passed the letter around at our chapter meeting, it was
suggested that it might be a good idea to send a copy to the
editorial department of The Capital as a letter to the editor. I did
this (modifying the letter to remove Mrs. Anand's identity). I
haven't seen the letter published yet, however….
I received a call from a reporter on Thursday, asking for more
information about the Weston A. Price Foundation, and about our offer
to escort community members in response to recent reports of ethnic
and religious harassment. The reporter wasn't sure if there was
enough to make a story, but she told me to stay in touch about our
activities and the success of our offer to escort people.
On Saturday, October 20, a short item appeared in The
Capital's "Arundel Report" section B. I have to say that my comments
were not exactly what you see in the article, but close enough.
Anyway, at least some folks in the community will now know that they
are not alone, and that we as fellow neighbors do care about keeping
our community united.
Here's a link to the article (I had to re-type it because it wasn't
posted on the Capital's website):
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WAPAnnapolis/files/In%20the%20News/
I have already received an email from a lady in Severna Park who has
volunteered to be an escort.
Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you so much for these lists! WOW !!!!!
I am impressed at the number of organic farms and
farmer's markets
I would love to hear more about the work that you are
doing, when you have a chance.
