Re: [WAPrice Annap] Update--Don't delete anything until you read this

Kate,

That snopes site can be helpful.  And they are right on here.  But I have also discovered several instances where their information is not entirely accurate.  Don't take everything on that site as gospel.  The best place to go for virus rumors is an antivirus site like Symantec or MaCafee.

I just heard back from my computer guy Kevin Traub (our hero)---the SULFNBK.EXE virus warning is an urban legend (hoax).  Here s the twist:

The file SULFNBK.EXE is a normal file that OUGHT to be on your Windows system. Everyone has it if they have Windows. It should be located in your Windows\Command folder.  If you go to Start and then Find or Search depending on your computer, enter SULFNBK.EXE in the search field, and you should find that this file is in Windows\Command folder.

That s where it belongs.  If for any reason you find it s somewhere else, then maybe you have a problem.  In that case, get the latest anti-virus product update for whatever your anti-virus program is, and then scan your computer for virus.

If by some chance you already deleted the SULFNBK.EXE file, here is the link for instructions for how to restore the file to your computer.

Hope that clears things up.  Again, Beth, I m sure you meant only the best in warning us in good faith.

Just as a helpful hint to everyone, I ve found the Urban Legends site worth book marking because I get emails about viruses all the time.  Here s the link to the Urban Legends site:

As you ll see, you can just enter the name of the purported virus and usually it will result in an explanation if it s a fake.

Hope that s helpful&nuff said.
