Training Description
"I was threatened and physically forced to have sex repeatedly. I was
too embarrassed and ashamed to tell anyone..." ...75 year old woman

This one-day training event is designed to explore the challenging
issues around sexual violence and the elderly- as age increases and
physical ability and personal power decrease, the risk for rape and
sexual assault increases. The training will present relevant information
across multiple disciplines from a leader in the field. Participants
will gain an understanding of appropriate interpersonal, organizational
and community responses to sexual violence.

Presenter
Holly Ramsey Klawsnik, PhD. is a nationally recognized leader in the
field of elder abuse and victimization. She has provided clinical
services to victims and forensic services to agencies serving victims
and is the author of training curricula and programs for state and
federal agencies.

Other Workshops
Presentations on the new Virginia laws and the Sexual Assault Response
Teams (SART), a local case study and, best practices from an existing
SART

Who should attend
Anyone who works on behalf of the elderly: Domestic and Sexual Violence
Advocates, Home Care Facility Personnel, Adult Protective Services, Law
Enforcement, Victim Witness Personnel, Prosecutors/Attorneys, Aging
Services Community.
