Importance
The mission of NAAAV is to develop and implement strategies to empower Native
Americans whose lives have been affected by violence.

The purpose of this conference is to provide a safe. Supportive environment for
Native Women to come together to exchange ideas and concerns, gather
information, build skill and mutually support one another. It is also a time to
reflect and renew oneself during a hectic Pow Wow season.

NAAAV recognizes the complexities of the issues of domestic and sexual violence
and believes that only by honoring and explorin all of the facets of violence
against Native Women, from economic abuse to substance abuse, can a framework be
developed for ending that violence.

For the fifth time, through the Indigenous Women’s Conference, Native Women are
able to come together to work towards this common purpose. And, it is through
participation in Native American Advocates
Against Violence (NAAAV), that Native Americans and non-native allies come
together all year round to work towards the common purposes of creating safety
and the elimination of violence against Native Women.
