2009 Virginia School and Campus Safety Training Forum

Monday, July 27 & Tuesday, July 28, 2009 (2-day Main Conference only)

Monday, July 27 - Thursday, July 30, 2009 (2-day Main Conference +
extended specialized training opportunities)

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to
announce the 2009 Virginia School and Campus Safety Training Forum.

The 2009 Virginia School and Campus Safety Training Forum will provide
all attendees with two days of plenary and breakout sessions covering a
comprehensive range of school and campus safety and prevention-related
topics on Monday, July 27 & Tuesday, July 28, 2009. In addition to the
Main Conference package, this year's forum will also offer specialized
training opportunities as follows:

Three-day conference package (Monday, July 27 - Wednesday, July 29) --
Two-day Main Conference + one of the following trainings:

* Program Developmental Training for DARE Officers
* Teen Dating Violence Prevention Curricula Showcase
* Primary Violence Prevention
* Alcohol Enforcement Specialist Training (law enforcement officers
only)
* School Resource Officer Training

Four-day conference package (Monday, July 27 - Thursday, July 30) --
Two-day Main Conference + one of the following trainings:

* School Security Officer Certification Training
* College Campus Security Officer Certification Training

[Please note: the four-day course offerings listed above are intended
for those school/college safety practitioners who have yet to complete
these basic training requirements.]

We are anticipating more than 600 school and campus safety practitioners
in attendance at this annual event. Partnering with the Virginia
Department of Criminal Justice Services to bring you this collective
training opportunity are the following: Virginia Department of
Alcoholic Beverage Control, Virginia Department of Education, Virginia
Department of State Police, Office of the Attorney General, Virginia
Department of Health, and the Virginia Association of Campus Law
Enforcement Administrators.

The conference sessions (7/27 & 28) and extended trainings (7/27-30)
will be held July 27-30, 2009 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center
located at 1610 Coliseum Drive in Hampton, Virginia. A variety of
lodging accommodations are available within walking distance of the
conference facility (see special lodging arrangement info below).
Lunch will be provided to participants on each of the four days.

Plenary addresses will include:

- Recent Developments in the Law Relating to Higher Education

- The Critical Legal Track for SRO's and School Administrators
(Dr. John More)
- What's Really Going on in Schools and on Campuses (Linda
Hancock)
- Prevent Bullying - Prevent Crime (Rhonda Denny)
- A True Story of Date Rape: The Katie Koestner Story (Katie

- Death by Alcohol: The Sam Spade Story

Conference Registration Deadline:

July 10, 2009, 5:00 p.m.

The registration fee is required and non-refundable unless registration
is canceled prior to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009. This fee
applies to all registered participants who fail to cancel by the
deadline, even if they are unable to attend.

Cash payments will NOT be accepted at the conference.
