PRESENTER BIOS

* Carole L. Campbell, Ph.D. is Clinical Psychologist at the Child
Abuse Program at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters and an
Assistant Professor in the EVMS Division of Abuse Pediatrics. She
received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from St. Louis University
and completed her clinical internship as a Trauma intern at the Medical
University of South Carolina. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship
at St. John's University in child psychopathology, focusing on child
trauma, and has worked on multiple federal grants in the field of child
maltreatment. Her research focuses on developing and disseminating
effective interventions for traumatized youth, with particular interest
in tailoring interventions to underserved groups including Hispanic
youth and children of military personnel.

* Mathias (Mat) H. Heck, Jr., born and raised in Dayton,
Montgomery County, Ohio, attended Marquette University and Georgetown
University Law Center. He is a career Prosecutor, having worked as an
Assistant Prosecutor after law school, and later being elected
Prosecuting Attorney in 1992. In November 2008, he ran unopposed for
his fifth 4 year term as the elected Prosecuting Attorney of Montgomery
County, Ohio. Mr. Heck is a member of many professional associations and
involved in numerous civic organizations. He is a member of the Board
of Directors of the National Children's Alliance, and presently serves
as the Vice President/President Elect, a founding partner and Chair of
the Executive Steering Committee of Dayton's CARE House Child Advocacy
Center, past President and immediate past Chairman of the Board of the
National District Attorneys Association, serves as the representative of
the National District Attorneys Association to the Criminal Justice
Council and House of Delegates of the American Bar Association,
Secretary and member of the Board of Regents of the National College of
District Attorneys, and is a fellow of the American College of Trial
Lawyers and a Committee Vice Chair. He is admitted to practice in all
courts in Ohio, the United States District Court, and Southern District
of Ohio, United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, United States
Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit, and the United States
Supreme Court.

* Teresa Huizar is the Executive Director of the National
Children's Alliance in Washington, D.C. She received her Master's degree
in Public Policy from the University of Denver. Teresa worked as the
Executive Director at Western Regional Children's Advocacy Center and
Safe Passage for 2 years; was the Director of Fund Distribution at
United Way of Weld County, as well as working for numerous Children's
programs. She is a member of the National Society of Fund Raising
Executives, American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, and
the Colorado office of Victims Assistance. She also served as a
Contributor and Editor of "Organizational Development for Children's
Advocacy Centers" Manual.

* Ms. Sara Jakiel started with the Polaris Project in September,
2007. Immediately prior to joining Polaris Project she was working as a
Researcher in the Professional Training department of the U.S. Institute
of Peace and was completing a Master's degree in Ethics, Peace and
Global Affairs at American University. Ms. Jakiel followed the Human
Rights and Social Justice Track within her program and focused her
research on both transnational and domestic trafficking-looking
specifically at links between local, state and federal agencies working
on the issue. Ms. Jakiel also volunteered with an organization
dedicated to eradicating the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children
(CSEC) and hosted several University events to raise awareness about
human trafficking. In addition, Ms. Jakiel led a student organization
dedicated to expanding opportunities for D.C. area youth to become
educated about international peace and conflict resolution. Ms. Jakiel
received her Bachelor's degree in Political Science and French from the
University of Virginia after which she pursued an ESL career abroad that
took her to Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia. Ms. Jakiel worked for 4
years training new teachers and service staff while also volunteering in
various capacities and has worked directly with survivors of human
trafficking through a volunteer organization in Bangkok, Thailand.

* Maryfrances Porter, Ph.D., graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts
in Psychology from Emory University in 1996. She worked as a coordinator
of psychiatric and psychological research at Emory University and the
University of Denver for a total of seven years. She obtained her
doctoral degree in clinical psychology, with an emphasis in community
psychology, from the University of Virginia in 2005. She completed a
postdoctoral fellowship in Medical Psychology at Child and Family
Psychiatry, University of Virginia Health System in 2006. Since being
licensed she has worked for the Charlottesville/Albemarle Commission on
Children and Families (CCF), a joint-jurisdiction, local
government-appointed board planning board which advises local government
on improving outcomes and coordinating planning for local children and
their families. She is currently the Intervention Team Leader,
facilitating and consulting to the local efforts to enhance intervention
services for all children - including growing the local service array
and promoting well-coordinated, family-driven, child-centered,
strengths-based, and culturally proficient service provision. She also
oversees research assistants, interns; research conducted by CCF, and is
the liaison to the Office of University Community Partnerships at the
University of Virginia.
