Job Description

To provide services to victims of crime whose perpetrators are in the
custody of the Virginia Department of Corrections (DOC). To provide
counseling, victim rights explanation and explain the criminal justice
process: assist victims with input to the parole board, escort victims to
parole board appointments and executions. To monitor the VINE system and
assist in instruction at the DOC Academy. To represent DOC's victim services
unit on several victim boards and victim organizations throughout the
Commonwealth of Virginia.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of case management and crisis intervention techniques.
Demonstrated ability to assist clients and make referrals to appropriate
agencies. Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain policies and
procedures; work effectively with people and as part of a team; and
communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer graduation from an accredited college or university with criminal
justice system or an equivalent combination of training and experience
indicating possession of required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prefer
working knowledge of case management and crisis intervention techniques.
Prefer experience working with the public, victims of crime and for a victim
services organization.
Special Requirements
