PART-TIME ADVOCATE FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM
The James House Intervention/Prevention Services
The James house is a non-profit organization that provides direct services to
victims and secondary victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and
stalking.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative support, hotline services, support groups, and
outreach programs.
2. Provide technical assistance to allied service agencies.
3. Complete reports as required.
4. Attend required training.
5. Assist and participate in special projects.
6. Other duties as required.
Requirements:
1. Understand the issues of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking,
and be sensitive to the needs of survivors.
2. Exhibit the ability to remain calm under stressful circumstances.
3. Be energetic and flexible.
4. Maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license and access to a telephone.
5. Be available some nights and weekends occasionally.
6. Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
Qualifications:
1. Some college preferred and a minimum of 2 years working in an office
environment.
2. Some experience working with domestic violence or sexual violence programs,
nonprofit organizations, and/or community based organizations.
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to individuals on
all levels.
4. Experience with computers and office equipment.
The salary is $12 - $15 per hour, commensurate with experience.
