George Mason University's Office of Continuing Professional Education in
Virginia is hosting a 2-day seminar:
Sexually Violent Crime: The Body as Evidence
Taught by Dr. Henry Lee and Dr Michael Baden
November 10-11, 2008

In cooperation with Administration of Justice Department and Forensic
Nursing Program, School of Nursing

Sexually violent crime continues to challenge investigators and concern the
general public. It has been estimated that every two minutes, someone in the
United States is sexually assaulted. In many cases, sexual assault results
in homicide. Dr. Henry Lee and Dr. Michael Baden, two of the country's top
forensic scientists, will share their individual and collective expertise to
help the participants understand the importance of the body as evidence as
it relates to sexually violent crimes.

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Henry C. Lee is currently the Chief Emeritus for Scientific Services and
was the Commissioner of Public Safety for the State of Connecticut. He has
served as that state's Chief Criminalist since 1979. Dr Lee is a
Distinguished Professor at the University of New Haven and founder of the
Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at University of New Haven. Dr.
Lee's work has made him a landmark in the modern practice of forensic
sciences and he has been a prominent player in many of the most challenging
cases of the last 40 years. During his career, he has worked with law
enforcement agencies in helping to solve more than 6,000 cases. Dr. Lee was
the driving force in establishing a modern State Police Forensic Science
Laboratory in Connecticut.

Dr. Michael Baden is the former Chief Medical Examiner of New York City and
is presently Co-Director of the New York State Police Medico-Legal Unit. He
received his M.D. degree from New York University School of Medicine and
trained at Bellevue Hospital Medical Center where he held the positions of
intern, resident and Chief Resident. In his career spanning 45 years, Dr.
Baden has performed over 20,000 autopsies. He has held numerous professorial
teaching appointments, consulted to organizations such as the FBI, VA, ATF,
DEA and DOJ, authored several books, and served as an expert witness in many
high profile cases. He currently serves as the Forensic Science Contributor
for FOX National News.
